EcocienciaGT´s author receives a journalistic award

Lucy Calderón Pineda, the EcocienciaGT´s founder obtained the second place of the GWP-CAM/LatinClima Award for the best story about the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), water and climate change.

Calderón obtained the aforemention recognition for her multimedia journalistic piece: “SDG 6, a call to ensure we all have water and sanitation.” This work is product of the virtual training course for journalists and communicators: “An approach to the sustainable development goals with an emphasis on water and climate change”, which took place from May 15 to July 24, 2018.

The email received by Calderon about this journalistic recognition remaks: “You have done an excellent job and have stood out on the others in application of the topics seen during the course, balance and solidity of informative sources, good writing and spelling, innovation in format and content, and depth and completeness”.

She was also informed that the evaluation committee that selected the winners was made up of Katiana Murillo, from LatinClima; Margarita Figueroa and Ivania Ochoa from GWP; and it also had the participation of the Argentinian expert journalist Fermín Koop. 

The training course was led by the Global Water Partnership Central America (GWP) and the Communication Network on Climate Change (LatinClima), with the support of the Auraclima Program of the Spanish Agency for International Cooperation (AECID, by its acronym in Spanish) and the Ministry of Environment and Energy of Costa Rica (MINAE, by its acronym in Spanish), through the LatinClima Project and the support of the Internews' Earth Journalism Network and the Tropical Agricultural Research and Higher Education Center (CATIE).
